Dr. Stacey Mahoney
Hello! My name is Stacey Mahoney and I’m the Chief Cookie Artist for Jersey Girl Sweets. I run a home bakery specializing in custom homemade decorated sugar cookies. Perhaps someday there will be a storefront but for now, this one-woman baking show is crafting custom treats from her home made with extra love.
My love of baking began when I was a little girl. I’d love to share that I learned everything I know about baking from my mother or grandmother, but that is not the case.
In fact, I don’t have a single memory of my grandmother baking…anything. My memories of my Mom and I in the kitchen are reminiscent of us baking “aggression cookies” together for the holidays. With all the stress associated with the winter holiday season – we would mix all the ingredients “by hand” in a huge bowl. It helped relieve the holiday stress. Just a very simple oatmeal cookie that I continue to bake every year in her memory. Each year when I make them, I am transported back to my childhood and all our family festivities. This tradition would serve as the fuel that would ignite my passion for baking.
For years, I’ve baked cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and other desserts for family and friends. Any occasion – birthdays, weddings, bridal and baby showers, and every holiday throughout the year – was a way to show my love for those closest to me.
Fast forward to the pandemic, and I am reminded of my father’s unwavering belief that I should follow my dreams. With a renewed sense of passion for “baking memories” for others, I rekindled my love of cookies. Then, a friend asked me to make custom decorated sugar cookies for her daughter’s high school graduation. This one order opened the door for me to help others commemorate their special occasions.
So, why Jersey Girl Sweets? Born and raised in New Jersey, I was inspired to pay homage to the place where my baking journey began. For me…once a Jersey Girl…always a Jersey Girl. (If you’re from Jersey – you get it!) Within minutes of sharing the idea for a home bakery with one of my BFFs – she blurted out “Jersey Girl Sweets.” And my home business began.
Our mission is to enhance life’s special moments through the magic of custom home-baked goods, made with extra love. So let’s bake some memories together!
